Applying For Student Visa !

Important note: All applications for Student Visas by citizens of Pakistan, who are applying from outside Australia, must be lodged with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) Office in Adelaide. See: Student Visa Centre

Applications for an AusAID and Defence Sponsored Sector (subclass 576) visa may be lodged at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres in Pakistan.

General information about student visas

Student visas are for people who wish to undertake a course of formal study. There are 7 visa subclasses in Australia's student visa program: the visa subclass under which you will be assessed is determined by your main course of study.

All students intending to apply for a student visa should check the Assessment Level and requirements that will apply to their application on the DIAC website.

Students can also refer to the Study in Australia website.

Afghan or Pakistan nationals living in Pakistan
From 2 April 2013, student visa applicants who are Afghan or Pakistan nationals living in Pakistan can submit their applications and provide their biometrics at an AVAC in Pakistan. Previously, it has only been possible to submit a student visa application directly to the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in Australia. Applications submitted through an AVAC,will be couriered securely to the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in Australia within seven days.

Submission of biometrics at the same time as submission of complete student visa applications through an AVAC offers the simplest, most efficient and cost effective lodgement option for student visa applicants in Pakistan. Alternatively if applications are lodged directly with the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in Australia, applicants will be sent a requirement letter to go to one of the AVACs in Pakistan to provide their biometrics, while the case is being assessed. This may mean it takes longer to finalise a visa application.
See: Student Visa Centre.

Other nationalities living in Pakistan and AusAID and Defence Sponsored Sector (subclass 576)
Student applications from other nationals in Pakistan and for AusAID and Defence Sponsored Sector (subclass 576) visa may be lodged at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres in Pakistan. These applications will be couriered to the Australian Visa Office Islamabad.
