CHANGES TO VISITOR AND TEMPORARY WORK VISAS FROM 23 MARCH 2013
From 23 March 2013 the Australian government intends to introduce significant changes to the Visitor and Medical Treatment visas. 
In Pakistan, the Australian Visa Application Centres working on behalf of the Australian High Commission will no longer be accepting new applications for the following visas:
• Tourist visa (subclass 676)
• Business (Short Stay) visa (Subclass 456)
• Medical Treatment (Short Stay) visa (subclass 675)
• Medical Treatment (Long Stay) visa (subclass 685)
Applicants in Pakistan who were previously eligible for the visas listed above may be eligible for one of the following visa subclasses below.
• Temporary work (short stay activity) visa (subclass 400)
• Visitor visa (subclass 600)
• Medical Treatment visa (subclass 602)

CHANGES TO STUDENT VISA LODGEMENT FROM 2 APRIL 2013
From 2 April 2013, all student applicants in Pakistan will be able to submit their student visa applications and provide their biometrics at their nearest Australian Visa Applications Centre (AVAC) in Pakistan.
There will be no additional fee for the collection of biometrics or the courier of applications to Australia through the AVACs.
Clients will still need to pay the standard student visa application charge in Australian Dollars. Student visa applications submitted to an AVAC will be couriered securely to the Adelaide Offshore Student Processing Centre in accordance with legislative requirements.
The AVACs offer visa applicants convenient operating hours across three accessible locations in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi as well as a call centre that operates six days a week. All visa applicants in Pakistan, regardless of nationality, can now provide their personal identifiers (fingerprints and a facial photograph) as part of their application lodgement through AVACs.
Visa applicants must make an appointment to attend their nearest AVAC. Appointments can be made online or by calling the phone number below.

All new visa enquiries should now be directed to the above phone number in the first instance. These are premium rate number and callers will be charged at the rate of PKR 10 per minute.
